My name is Johan Peijnenburg. Originally I am from The Netherlands, but I have been living in the French speaking part of Switzerland (Suisse Romande) since the end of 2008. For those who know Switzerland a bit, or just like cheese, I am located in the Gruyère region.
I have an academic business economics background and worked as an entrepreneur, (project) manager, and designer of business software and web applications for many years. In 2007 however, I decided that it was time for new challenges and to give my creative side more room to play. As a result NiO Photography was born. I’ve been “into” photography for quite a while, so I feel very privileged and happy to be able to dedicate most of my time to it at the moment
Being close to so many beautiful and amazing sites in Switzerland and the surrounding countries, probably means that it will take quite a while before I exhaust my list of places to visit.
… anyways … thanks for visiting. Please feel free to contact me and i’ll get back to you!

NiO Photography’s mission is to create photographs that capture the beauty of nature’s landscapes, seascapes, wildlife and flora, as well as images that express what makes a region’s cities, countryside, people, cultures, local traditions and history special. Geographically, the main focus is on Switzerland and the surrounding countries, with a special interest in the most beautiful mountain range system of Europe: the Alps.
NiO Photography … so what’s with that name? Well, NiO is a combination of the words “New” and “Johan” … and it just sounded much better than “Johan Peijnenburg Photography”.

Err … that depends a bit on how my back and knees are doing … I’ll typically take only one body and two or three lenses along when I go out shooting, together with a tripod (mostly), a couple of filters and various other bits and pieces … including my Swiss army knife obviously …
