The Stockhorn is a mountain in the Bernese Alps, above the town of Erlenbach im Simmental. The Stockhorn is 2190 meters high and is accessible via a cable car. It has a restaurant at the top, just under the summit from where you have a very nice view of the Bernese Alps and of Thun and the Thunersee in the valley. In the summer, the summit of the Stockhorn is a good starting point for many hikes and there is good fishing (especially for trouts) in the two lakes right below the Stockhorn, the Oberstockensee and the Hinterstockensee.
As I was curious how it would be in winter time, I visited the Stockhorn again two weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised. I think it is even more beautiful in winter time, especially when the weather cooperates …
