Ireland is, without a doubt, one of the best places for coastal landscape photography. It offers many opportunities to capture Irish coastal landscapes in B&W. As a result, it is easy to spend weeks in a relatively smaller part of the country without getting bored at all. The scenery, as well as the weather, is so varied that you just keep shooting. And then you will still run into something new, the next time you visit! This photograph of the Irish coast of Dingle is a great example.
This coastal landscape in B&W was captured at a small secluded beach near Slea Head. Slea Head is a headland on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. It was close to sunset. A longer exposure time smoothened the water to make the photograph less busy. Also, a streak of white water appeared as a result of that. It leads the eye to the Blasket Islands on the horizon. A black & white presentation and a wider crop seem to fit the scene and mood best.
The title “The Getaway” seems suitable in two ways. Firstly the location feels like a small getaway. Secondly, it looks like it is one of the few places there from which you can escape without stranding on the jagged cliffs on the Irish coast of Dingle.
