Lofoten is an archipelago in the county of Nordland in Norway and lies within the Arctic Circle. The scenery in Lofoten is absolutely breathtaking, especially in winter, with its coastal mountains, sheltered bays, beaches, and untouched lands. As a result, it is an excellent location for coastal landscape photography. This minimalist photograph of a small lighthouse in Lofoten illustrates that. So, if you get the chance to visit, go for it!
This landscape photo in black & white features a small lighthouse situated just off the coast in the Norwegian Sea in Lofoten. The viewpoint is in one of the many sheltered bays along the coast of Lofoten. It was a very calm day. As a result, only a limited longer exposure time was needed to smooth out the last wrinkles in the water. The smooth water and the soft clouds create a distinct minimalist and soothing look and feel, in conjunction with the black & white conversion. Furthermore, there are two birds sitting on the railing of the lighthouse seemingly overlooking the calm sea.
This photograph of a small lighthouse in Lofoten is part of our Minimalist photography theme. That theme consists of many more minimalist photos like this one. Please visit the Nordic Landscape Photography portfolio to see more photographs that were taken in the Nordics, including a few more of the Norwegian Sea near Lofoten.
