It was early in the morning when this Icelandic coastal landscape was taken. The view in this photograph is near Stokksnes Beach, where most people focus on photographing the Vestrahorn. There is a small lagoon there, which is of interest when you want to shoot with a more minimalist style. There are rocks and small islands with black sand scattered around the lagoon. Make sure to visit the area when you find yourself in that part if Iceland!
It was a cloudy morning with barely any wind. The reflections of the clouds were close to perfect as a result. A longer exposure time smoothened the water in the lagoon as well as the clouds in the sky. Black & white seemed to fit the scene best. Combining a longer exposure time and black & white simplifies the photograph. Less is more! Besides that, it strengthens the minimalist mood and calm feel. “Still Waters” seemed to be a suitable title for this Icelandic coastal landscape.

Ben –
Good to see something different from Stokksnes beach. Wouldn’t mind having this on my wall :-p
