The sticks in this misty coastal landscape hold fishing nets in place. The fishing nets themselves are not visible because the tide was high. The sun still manages to subtly light the scene, despite the fog. A longer exposure time smoothened the seawater and the sky a bit, which makes the misty coastal landscape nicely zen and minimal. Besides that, it makes the fishing net sticks and their reflections stand out better against the background of fog. The black & white presentation without a doubt compliments the dreamy look and feel.
“Silence at the Sea” seemed like a fitting title for this coastal landscape. The photograph was taken at the coast of the North Sea close to Rockanje in the province of South Holland in The Netherlands. The Dutch North Sea coast is an excellent location for photographing minimalist coastal landscapes like this one.
