This fine art photograph was taken somewhere in the beautiful Muotathal valley in the canton of Schwyz in central Switzerland. The waterfall featured in this photograph was about 5 metres high. It caught the eye because of how the waterfalls on the rocks underneath. The subtle light on the rocks gives the spray a fascinating misty look. A longer exposure time smoothened the falling water and the water in the basin underneath. The photograph seems more soothing and minimalist as a result. The black and white processing accentuates the contrast between the falling water, the spray, as well as the rocks. Besides that, it makes the delicate textures and tones in this photograph of a waterfall in B&W stand out better.
Waterfalls like this are an excellent subject for more minimalist photography in black & white, especially when a longer exposure smoothens the water a bit.
