This Irish lake landscape photograph features a characteristic wooden pier in Lough Caragh. The lake is also called Caragh Lake or Loch Cárthaà in Irish. Lough Caragh is a beautiful lake located in Killarney National Park in County Kerry in Ireland. Killarney National Park is Ireland’s oldest National Park.
This wooden pier (or is it a jetty?) in Lough Caragh is used as a landing for fishing boats. The lake is excellent for salmon fishing. Part of the wood of the pier had just been replaced. The pier has some extra character as a result. It was quite cloudy and chilly on this day, but some sunlight still managed to warm the pier and lake. A longer exposure time smoothened the water of the lake and the clouds in the sky. The photograph has a soothing look as a result. Undoubtedly, the presentation in black and white strengthens that.
