Autumn in the Swiss Alps can offer surprises. The scene captured in this photograph titled “Misty Glow” is a great example. This winter landscape was photographed in mid-October in the Engadin region in the Swiss Canton of Graubünden. The snow had fallen on the previous day, and it was very foggy. The alpenglow at sunrise was very interesting and mystical as a result. Snow in autumn is quite common in Engadin by the way. The region, in general, is an excellent location for landscape photography all year round. Make sure to visit when you get the chance!
The photograph was taken near Celerina, a beautiful small town neighbouring the more well-known city of St. Moritz. In the foreground, you see a misty forest with a small barn. It was just after sunrise. The fog was already rising, but the alpenglow on the mountains in the back still managed to peek through.
This photograph is part of our Fog & Mist landscape photography theme. You will find many misty landscape photographs there. For more winter photos, please visit our Winter & Snow photography theme. Alternatively, visit our Mountains & Hils landscape photography theme to see more photographs of mountains, including a few more that show alpenglow at sunrise.
