This small island, or islet, in the Silsersee or Lake Sils in English, is an interesting foreground subject for landscape photography. This is especially the case in winter when the trees have a dusting of snow and in autumn when they have their fall colours like in this one. The fall colours of the larch trees stand out nicely against the fog in the background. The line of foam in the foreground leads the eye diagonally into the scene.
The island can be found close to Sils im Engadin/Segl, a small town in the Upper Engadine valley of Graubünden in Switzerland. The town and the lake lie at an altitude of 1,797 metres (5,896 ft) above sea level. As a result, larch trees feel really at home there.

Love how the foam in the water leads my eye to the trees and the fog in the back 🙂
