The Verzasca Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Italian speaking canton of Ticino in Switzerland. It is an excellent place for both hiking and landscape photography. It is well-known for the Verzasca river that meanders through it, with jade green water running over smooth polished limestone rocks.
It was a wet and cloudy day. Therefore, the rocks were nicely clean. A longer exposure time smoothened the falling water of the waterfall. As a result, the photograph feels more soothing and minimalist. The black and white processing accentuates the contrast of the falls against the rocks. Also, it makes the delicate textures and tones of the limestone rocks stand out better.
The waterfall in this photograph is one of the many smaller waterfalls in the Verzasca river. Also, it is famous for its picturesque Ponte Dei Salti bridge in Lavertezzo, which is where Johan captured this fine art photograph in B&W. The Verzasca valley is very much worth a visit, so make sure to go there if you get the chance!

Wonderfully done Johan! Is 3525 x3525 the biggest size you have for this? How big can I go with a print at a viewing distance of let’s say 10 feet ?
Johan Peijnenburg –
Thanks George! I do have a slightly bigger version as well 🙂 Will get in touch!
