This lake landscape photograph illustrates how beautiful mountain reflections can be on a quiet morning in the Swiss Alps. This photograph features Lake Sils. Lake Sils, or Silsersee in German, is a lake in the Engadin region in the Canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. The main mountain that you see in this photograph is Piz de la Margna. It is 3,159 m (10,364 ft) high.
Lake Sils lies at an altitude of 1,797 metres (5,896 ft) above sea level. It is a perfect location for photographing mountain reflections. Usually, the best time is during sunrise, just before the wind starts to spoil things. This lake landscape photograph in black & white was taken during an autumn sunrise. There was a bit of fog, and the clouds were just opening up.
As you can see, there was barely any wind. As a result, the mountains are reflected nicely in the lake. A long exposure smoothened the clouds in the sky a bit. As a result, the photograph has a more soothing look and feel.
