The single compositional element, in conjunction with the limited texture and black and white, makes this an excellent example of minimalism in photography. Less is more. This fine art photograph of an old pier in a lake was taken using a longer exposure time. This smoothened the water as well as the clouds and fog on the horizon. The photograph has a soothing and zen feel as a result of it.
The old pier in this lake landscape photograph is located at the southeast shores of Lac de Neuchâtel in Switzerland, near the small town of Estavayer-le-Lac. It was a quiet day with a hazy sky, fog and just a few streaks of clouds. A great day for shooting minimalist photographs around the lake. The pier is no longer in use. “Abandoned” seemed a fitting title.
