Alpine river rapids often offer attractive and beautiful photography opportunities … if you look for them, that is. It should not be too sunny though, because the sunlight often makes the white water of the river rapid too bright. This photograph of a river rapid in black & white was captured on a wet and cloudy day. Therefore, the rocks were nicely clean. A longer exposure time smoothened the water. As a result, the photograph seems more zen and soothing. The black and white processing accentuates the contrasty nature of the rocks. Besides that, it eliminated other colour distractions.
The mountain river in which this river rapid was found runs along one of the many great hiking trails in the mountains of the Swiss National Park in the canton of Graubünden. The park is really worth a visit. Especially if you like to hike amid untouched nature. There also is a big chance that you will run into wildlife there as well.
