This lake landscape photograph is titled “Tranquil Dawn”. It illustrates the beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park. This photograph was captured during sunrise at Bow Lake in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is a long exposure photograph, which means that a longer shutter time was used. As a result, the water, as well as the fog, looks smoother. The sun did not yet rise above the mountains in the background. Hence, the light was still soft and balanced.
Bow Lake is a relatively small mountain lake and lies south of the Bow Summit, on the Bow River, at an altitude of 1,920 metres (6,300 ft). It is not that far from the Icefield’s Parkway which connects Banff National Park and Jasper National Park. The Rocky Mountains reflected in the lake during this sunrise at Bow Lake are Bow Crow Peak, Bow Peak, Mount Andromache, and Mount Hector. Banff National Park and Jasper National park offer breathtaking mountain scenery and are therefore highly recommended for landscape photography.
