This photograph of the Swiss Alps in fall features Piz da l’Acqua, which is a mountain of the Livigno Alps. Its highest point is at 3,126 metres (10,256 ft) above sea level.

It was a beautiful start of the day for photography in the Alps of the Swiss National Park (Parc Naziunal Svizzer) in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The sun was just up when this photograph of the Alps in fall was taken. Piz da l’Acqua baths in the soft early morning light. The larch trees on the mountain already had their golden fall colours, and some fog rose from the flank of Piz da l’Acqua. The mountain has more or less horizontal lines that seem to be carved out of the mountain’s side. The scene immediately caught the eye as a result. The lines are quite characteristic and conveniently lead the eye towards the mountain with snow in the back. Also, the light in the scene, as well as the clear sky with soft clouds, was simply gorgeous.

The Swiss National Park is an excellent area for hiking and landscape photography. The latter is especially the case in Autumn, because of its many larch trees with fall colours. Make sure to visit the park when you get the chance!
