The view shown in this winter landscape photograph is on a higher altitude along a winter hiking trail near Evolène. Evolène is a small town in the Swiss Canton of Valais. The mountains in the back are called Dent de Perroc (right) and Grande Dent de Veisivi (left). The snowy hills in the foreground give the photograph extra depth. It was cloudy, but the sun managed to peek through and create lovely patches of light on this winter photograph of the Swiss Alps with snow.
The Swiss Alps with snow offer endless opportunities for landscape photography. Unfortunately, the Alps are a bit over-commercialised. As a result, it often takes some extra effort to find the more untouched parts of the Alps. There are quite a few cable cars, chalets and ski areas you might not want to include. The Val d’Hérens valley, in which the town of Evolène lies, is beautiful and still offers a lot of untouched nature. It is an excellent area to combine hiking or a ski tour with photography, especially in autumn and winter.
