This winter mountain landscape illustrates the beauty of the Swiss Alps at sunset. Mountain light can be divine, especially around sunrise and sunset. In this photograph, sunset light hits the scene from the side and selectively creates patches of light on the landscape. Therefore, “Patches of Mountain Light” seemed to be a fitting title for this photograph.
The pointy mountain featured in the foreground of this photograph is the Almagellerhorn, or Almagellhorn. It has a height of 3,327 metres (11,000ft). Pizzo d’Andolla is the name of the mountain in the back and is even higher at 3,654 metres (12,000ft). The viewpoint captured in this Swiss mountain landscape is near the town of Saas-Fee in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. The area around Saas-Fee is beautiful, especially in autumn and wintertime. Make sure to go there when you get the chance!
