Autumn in the Swiss region of Engadin, with its golden larch trees, is simply breathtaking. This region offers lots of attractive scenery.
Engadin not only has beautiful mountains and many lakes. It also has vast larch tree forests, which turn a golden yellow just before they loose their needles in October. The mountains of the Bernina massif usually already have a coat of fresh snow. As a result, there often is an amazing contrast with the colours of autumn. This, is especially the case just before the sun sets.
This scene is near the small town of Pontresina. It lies at 1’805 meters above sea level in the valley of Upper Engadine. It was close to sunset. The soft evening light warmed the larch trees and rocks of the small waterfall sideways as a result. This soft light made the colours of the larch trees extra vivid. A longer exposure time smoothened the water of the cascading mountain river.

Crispy! Beautiful fall colours. I really like the composition/perspective. Do you visit Engadin often Johan?

Thanks again Jan! I visit Engadin every year. Mostly in autumn though. I love it there 🙂
