Ireland is, without a doubt, one of the nicest places to photograph Irish coastal landscapes, especially when you think in black & white. It is easy to spend a few weeks there without getting bored, because of the varied scenery and changeable weather. As a result, you just keep shooting. And, you will definitely run into something new every time you visit! This photograph of the Irish coast of Dingle is a great example.
This rugged landscape in B&W was captured from a small secluded beach near Slea Head. Slea Head is a headland on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry.
It was close to sunset. A longer exposure smoothened the water and, as a result, made the photograph less busy. Additionally, like magic, a curvy lighter patch of water appeared. It leads the eye to the Blasket Islands on the horizon. The B&W treatment and wider crop complements the scene and mood.
The title “The Getaway” seemed appropriate in two ways. Firstly this location truly feels like its is a hidden getaway. Secondly, it looks like it is one of the few places there from which you can escape without stranding on the jagged cliffs on the Irish coast of Dingle.
