The Blasket Islands, or Na Blascaodaà in Irish, are a group of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. They lie just off the west coast of Ireland. This photograph of a sunrise at the Blasket Islands was taken from a higher elevation on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland.
This particular scene caught the eye because of the early morning light that is only waking up one of the islands, on the right side of the photograph. The name of that island is Tearaght Island. The title “Awakening” seemed to be a suitable title for this Irish landscape photograph.
In Ireland, you usually get four seasons in a day. This day started in a moody but interesting way. The light was all over the place. As a result, this sunrise at the Blasket Islands begged to be photographed with a big sky. Ireland is an exceptional location for capturing moody coastal landscapes like this one. So, make sure to go there if you get the chance!
