The Swedish boreal forest in Lapland is an extraordinary place to be in winter. Not only because of the wildlife there but also because of the beautiful Arctic landscape. This misty winter scene was captured close to sunset near Puoltikasvaara, a small settlement near Kiruna in Swedish Lapland. The fog was slowly covering the setting sun. The sun, however, still managed to warm the trees and shed beautiful soft light on the snowy landscape. “Arctic Mist” seemed like a very fitting title for this Arctic landscape at sunset.
Swedish Lapland, or Lappland, is a province in the north of Sweden. It is a fascinating place for landscape photography, as this photograph of a Swedish boreal forest illustrates. It lies in the Arctic circle. There are many hills, mountain rivers, lakes, and gorgeous woodlands to work with. Besides that, you might run into Arctic fox, Lynx, and Reindeer. Furthermore, the winter there usually offers an abundance of snow.
If you like this photograph, you might also appreciate the photo titled “Frozen”, which was taken not far from where Arctic Mist was captured.
