It was a very foggy winter day. As a result, there were many opportunities to capture minimalist winter landscape photographs in B&W in which subjects fade away in the fog. The poles in this scene are old-fashioned telephony poles. When visiting the Swiss countryside, you’ll see quite a few of these. They are excellent photography subjects, especially in wintertime. This setting with the poles against a background of fog and snow creates an distinct minimalist mood. The black and white presentation adds to that. Less is often more! “Fading” seemed like a suitable title for this photograph.
These specific telephony poles were standing tall in Sâles in the Swiss canton of Fribourg. Sâles is quite close to where Johan Peijnenburg lives.
Make sure to also check out the photograph titled Out of Sight. It features the same telephone poles, bit with a very different composition.
