This lake landscape photograph was taken just after dawn at Muckross lake. Muckross Lake, also called Middle Lake or The Torc, is a beautiful lake in Killarney National Park in County Kerry, Ireland. The area around the lake, and Killarney National park, in general, is an outstanding location for both hiking and lake landscape photography. As with many lakes, allegedly a big monster lives in Muckross Lake … a giant 6 metres (20 ft) long eel. So watch out!
It was a somewhat cloudy morning, but the sun still managed to shed lovely soft light on the lake and the rocks in the foreground. A longer exposure time smoothened the clouds as well as the water in the lake. As a result, the photograph has a more soothing and zen look and feel. Black & white seemed to fit this gentle dawn at Muckross Lake best. If you look closely, you will see an ancient stone bridge in the back. The bridge lies at the spot where Muckross Lake and Lough Leane meet.

Lovely image! Having that bridge in the back exactly in the middle makes this extra interesting. Would look great as a big print for sure …
