Lofoten is an archipelago in the county of Nordland in Norway and lies within the Arctic Circle. The scenery in Lofoten is absolutely breathtaking, especially in winter, with its coastal mountains, sheltered bays, beaches, and untouched lands. And, with its lighthouses, like the one featured in this minimalist photograph in black & white.
Lofoten is beautiful and therefore an excellent location for coastal landscape photography. Visit when you get the chance, however make sure to leave the beaten track to find something different. For instance, this small lighthouse situated just off the coast of Lofoten. Three sea birds (shags) sit on the railing of the lighthouse and seemingly overlook the calm Norwegian sea.
The viewpoint is in one of the many sheltered bays along the coast of Lofoten. It was a very calm day. As a result, only a limited longer exposure time was needed to smooth out the last wrinkles in the water. The smooth water and the soft clouds create a distinct minimalist and soothing look and feel, in conjunction with the B&W conversion.
