This Dutch coastal landscape in B&W features the Zeelandbrug or Zeeland Bridge in English. It is an iconic bridge located in the Dutch coastal province of Zeeland.
The Zeelandbrug is the longest bridge in the Netherlands with a length of 5,022 metres (16,476 ft). It spans the Oosterschelde and connects the islands of Schouwen-Duiveland and Noord-Beveland. The Oosterschelde, or Eastern Scheldt in English, is a former estuary and the largest national park in the Netherlands.
This photograph shows the underside of the Zeelandbrug. Hence the title “Under the Bridge”. Johan captured the photo on an afternoon in November with rather moody weather. The clouds were, however, rather fascinating as the image shows.
A longer exposure time of about 8 minutes was used. As a result, the water of the Oosterschelde as well as the clouds in the back are smoother. The lines of the bridge lead the eye to the first foot of the bridge and the clouds on the horizon.
You usually see the Zeelandbrug photographed from the side. Have a look at the photo titled To Infinity, in case you want to see how that looks.
